Armstrong worked across several of the Bond films, with one of his first major stunt appearances in the ‘volcano’ sequence from You Only Live Twice (1967). Die Another Day (2002) acted as the latest and last Bond film that Armstrong worked on, advising and directing all Second Unit and action elements, evidently forming integral parts of the overall film. Quoting the ice car chase scene as one of his ‘proudest achievements as an action director’, Vic chose a frozen lake near Hofn, Iceland, for the scene. Having to abide to mechanical detail, a fine-line of weather conditions, and overall strict safety precautions, the outcome was a true success and a stand-out sequence for the film.
